Me. Annick Nguénang Nono is a bilingual legal professional whose journey to becoming a notary, legal advisor, and accredited mediator in Quebec is a testament to resilience, determination, and community commitment.
Originally from Cameroon, Annick arrived in Canada in 2015 bringing with her a strong foundation in law, having earned a Bachelor of Laws and a Postgraduate Diploma (D.E.S.S.) from the University of Yaoundé II – SOA. She continued her academic journey in Canada, completing the equivalency of her law degree at the Université de Montréal in 2017 before earning a Master’s in Notarial Law at the Université de Sherbrooke in 2020. Her academic achievements were followed by her admission to the Chambre des notaires du Québec, marking her successful professional integration into the Canadian legal landscape.
Annick’s legal practice is defined by a compassionate, human-centered approach focused on making justice accessible and supportive for all. She specializes in personal and estate law, including wills, successions, protection mandates, and estate liquidation. Her work extends into non-contentious notarial procedures and measures assisting adults who may be vulnerable or in need of protection.
Her expertise is further reflected in her accreditation as a mediator across multiple areas: civil, commercial, workplace, intercultural, and family mediation. Annick approaches conflict resolution with empathy and a focus on constructive dialogue, striving to find sustainable solutions that respect all parties involved.
Beyond her legal practice, Annick is deeply committed to community engagement and diversity. She serves on the Scientific Committee on the Representation of Black Communities within Legal Professions at the Université de Montréal, advocating for inclusion and broader representation in the legal profession. Her volunteer work includes contributions with Justice Pro Bono and Éducaloi, and she has participated in outreach missions to Nunavik to help bring justice services closer to Indigenous communities.
Annick’s leadership extends into governance and social impact. She holds board positions with organizations such as the Institut Pacifique, Clinique juridique Saint-Michel, Dernière Demeure Internationale, and Immigrand. She is a founding member of Entreprendre Ensemble, supporting community-driven entrepreneurial initiatives. Annick also founded the Centre for Equitable Mediation for the Immigrant Diaspora (MEDIMM), which focuses on peaceful dispute resolution within immigrant communities.
Her humanitarian spirit is further showcased through her role as Legal Director of BINAM Canada and as a founding member and Secretary General of Urgence Plus Monde-Canada, an NGO dedicated to assisting the vulnerable and those facing health and socio-economic hardship.
Throughout her career, Annick Nguénang Nono has demonstrated that justice is not just a legal concept but a human journey. Her work continues to bridge gaps, foster understanding, and champion equitable access to justice for individuals and families across diverse communities.
