Saidatou Dicko is a respected academic and researcher whose journey reflects excellence, determination, and a deep commitment to advancing knowledge in accounting and corporate governance. Born in Garoua, in northern Cameroon, she began her studies in her home country before earning a prestigious excellence scholarship from the Canadian International Development Agency. Before pursuing graduate studies, she gained valuable experience as an intern accountant and internal controller at the Bank of Central African States and at Brasseries du Cameroun. These early roles strengthened her understanding of financial systems and prepared her for a successful academic career.
Today, Saidatou Dicko is a professor in the Department of Accounting Sciences at ESG UQAM. She teaches courses in accounting, financial analysis, governance, and research methodology. Her research focuses on the impact of social networks, especially political connections, on corporate governance and financial performance. She also studies how financial information influences decision making and compares international accounting standards with OHADA standards used in many African countries.
Her work has been published in several respected academic journals, including Society and Business Review, International Journal of Business and Management, Advances in Accounting, International Academic Research Journal of Business and Management, and International Journal of Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Saidatou Dicko’s journey is a powerful example of academic excellence, international achievement, and dedication to advancing knowledge that benefits both Canada and Africa.
