Success Story Spotlight: John Adeyefa

 John Adeyefa is a visionary leader, accomplished technology professional, and a prominent figure within Ottawa’s African Canadian community, widely recognized for his sustained commitment to civic engagement, community development, and inclusive leadership. Born in Nigeria, his academic journey brought him to Canada on a scholarship, where he earned a Diploma in Building Engineering Technology and later completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York, laying a strong foundation for both professional excellence and public service. 


Since 2009, he has played a central leadership role within several community organizations, notably serving as President and Vice President of the Nigerian Canadian Association of Ottawa from 2009 to 2017, and co-founding the African Canadian Association of Ottawa (ACAO) in 2015, which he helped establish as the umbrella body for African community associations in the National Capital Region and where he now holds the title of President Emeritus. 


His leadership continues on a global scale through his role as Vice President, Civic Society Engagement and Diaspora Relations for the African Union Sixth Region Global (AU6RG), having previously served as its Structuring Committee Leader. 


Professionally, John Adeyefa is a highly experienced AI and Cybersecurity Consultant, working since 2016 with Government of Canada departments and private-sector organizations across five continents, with expertise in AI systems, automation, and cybersecurity operations, and collaborations with renowned institutions including Nortel, Ciena, Ericsson, and the Government of Canada. 


His lifetime of service has been recognized through numerous prestigious honors, including the King Charles III Coronation Medal Award, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Award, and multiple community leadership awards. Beyond his public and professional life, he is a devoted husband and the proud father of four sons and one daughter, embodying a legacy of vision, dedication, and service that continues to inspire and strengthen communities.
